Embrace Your Flab Abs!

Folks, are you tired of society's seeming obsession (and conquest) for perfect bodies and chiseled abs? Do you find images of sculpted bodies, cropped tops, and flat abs plastered on social media, a little short of scandalous? If you are, you’re not alone! Everywhere around you – be it the internet, magazines covers, ads, and fitness industry slogans – constantly bombard us with messages on how to obtain this unobtainable physical attribute - "Get six pack abs now!", "How to rid belly fat fast", "Secret formula to sexy abs". I for one, say NO to this fad ( and as I'm writing this post, I betcha millions of Americans have cited "rock-solid abs" as 2020's new years resolution!). In fact, I am here to make a case for the anti-flat ab, or the "flab ab". Here are the reasons why I am against this holy- grail-of-physical-fitness:
1. Most obvious reason? Your abs are normally COVERED! Like, 90 percent of the time. Ask yourself: Why are you so mindful about a body part that’s covered most of your waking hours? How often do you get to expose your abs? Are your abs worth all that time and effort given that it rarely gets exposed?
2. Some of us are simply unable to attain washboard abs, no matter how thinner you get. All the blood, sweat, and tears in the world won’t completely eliminate the mid-section bulge. Why? Cause your DNA won't allow it. Everybody has a 'natural body composition'; some of us have bigger organs than others. Others have more fat content in the middle. You can't change your genetic makeup. So why try to alter it?
3. Flat stomach does not signify good health or athleticism. It is nothing more than pure eye candy. Flat abs doesn't mean you run faster, lift heavier, or last longer on the treadmill. Heck, it doesn't even mean you have 'perfect posture'. In fact, it is possible for someone to have a good posture and still have a visible outward curve.
4. People notice your abs a lot less than you think. What do people notice when they converse with one another? Surprise, surprise - the FACE (really!). It ain't the midsection, or legs, or some other body part. Good news for ladies - here's how many shits guys give about your abs: zero. Guys are generally drawn to four things: face, hair, boobs, and butt. Your abs are much further down the line.
5. Contrary to the popular belief, flat abs aren't inherently feminine. One of the biggest motivations cited among women is that flat abs appear feminine. However this is a big misconception propagated by media images. Throughout human history, women weren't prized for having flat, toned abs. Rather, it was the opposite; a softer, rounder middle was considered ideal because it was associated to fertility, the ultimate symbol of womanhood and childbearing. It's only in recent years that the image of feminine has swung the other way!
6. If nothing else, ask yourself "why do I need flat abs?" Are you trying to become a fitness model? Underwear model? Belly dancer? Baywatch actor? If your answer to all of those is a NO, they what the hell do you need flat abs for? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️
So there you have it. Flat abs are overrated, unrealistic, and impractical. They are simply a by-product of modern consumer culture, because they are deem as commercially viable. So folks and all your love handles, muffin tops, belly pooch - whatever cutesy names you call them - let's push aside this craze, and start embracing your flab abs!Powered by Zyro.com
